Identify Your Voluntteer Area of Interest (VAI)
PMINJ would like to notify you when an opportunity is posted that would meet your expertise or need for growth. We have implemented the VAI to emulate the categories that were established by PMI. If you had posted a VAI with PMI, that initial information has been transferred to our system. To update your VAI information:
  • Login to the PMINJ site
  • Go to Customer (Member / Guest) Area
  • Go to Customer (Member / Guest) information and history of past event registrations (The VAI information will be towards the bottom of the page.)

Why Volunteer
Volunteering your time and skills to PMINJ has benefits for both the Chapter and you.  While the chapter benefits from your talents and dedication, volunteering provides you with the opportunity to:
Hone and broaden your skill set with hands on experience.
Meet new people, and network with other project management professionals.
Make a positive contribution to the Chapter, while improving the practice of project management.
Earn Professional Development Units (PDUs)

Volunteers get discounts to attend major PMINJ events

PMINJ is an organization that is run by volunteers.  It is through the dedication and commitment of individuals like you that we are, and will continue to be, successful.  We are always looking for volunteers to join our team as the Chapter continues to grow and broaden its services to the member community.
PDU Information for Volunteer Service
Earn PDUs by providing volunteer, non-compensated project management, project risk, project scheduling, or program management services to non-employer or non-client customer groups.

Examples of Qualifying activities include:
  1. Serve as an elected volunteer officer or as a volunteer/appointed committee member for a project management organization including PMI chapters and communities of practice) for a minimum of 3 months.  This work must be done for a legally recognized non-profit, not-for profit, or charitable groups and organizations.
  2. Providing project management related volunteer services to PMI or another professional project management association. This work must be done for a legally recognized non-profit, not-for-profit, or charitable groups and organizations.
  3. Provide volunteer project management-related services (This work must meet the definition of a project as outlined in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK? Guide)) to:
    • a community or charitable group,
    • a group of college students for educational purposes
    • for being a coach or mentor on project management topics
PDU Rule: 1 PDU is awarded for 1 hour of volunteer (non-compensated) service.
